A Day of Lament.

Stopping our Countdown Clock.

Darkness was minutes away. The sun knew that. Thundering waves rolled in and rumbled the very earth sand on which we sat. Intolerable decibels of crash and wind invaded our ears. Violence and death. A necessary brutal beauty insisted that the earth obey and trust the Creator.

Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.

Isaiah 53:4

Mark and I lingered on Molokai’s Papohaku beach and absorbed the sea-sprayed sundown. That camera shot has always represented lament, a beautiful lament to me. Thought you might enjoy it on this dark and wonderful Good Friday.
