Let’s talk leaven.
As a bread loving person hailing from European roots, I’ve never met a wheat product that my DNA didn’t love! The anticipation of watching (not necessarily adhering) to the food limits during Israel’s passover has been building. It is here.
“Girl, if you can’t live eight days without bread, cookies, or breakfast cereal you better stock up now,” warned my friend.
She had lived in Jerusalem for twenty years. Day nine is a run on the grocery market akin to the 1930’s bank panics. Logics cannot keep up with the demand. The faithful flock back out to wipe the wheat shelves clean. Stockboys don’t stand a chance!
As she walked away she turned and said, “Don’t forget to nose in the shops and get a photo if you can.”
She left my curiosity wanting more.
