Today is Tishah B'Av. Israel and Jewish people around the world remember and lament. They recall their tragic history - specifically focusing on the destruction of the temples; first and second. Families read the book of Lamentations. Many wear black.
Today in our family, we are marking what appears to be destruction too. Only this ‘temple’ is our eight year old granddaughter, Lucy Jane Tedder. Her body is sick. One week ago she was diagnosed with leukemia.
For Jews, remembering the two temples destruction is the greatest national loss because of what it did. It sent them into exile. It separated them from worshipping God how they wanted. Physically (until 1948) and spiritually they have floated, without a national and spiritual anchor. Thus today begins a season of their fasting and lament.
Lucy is a temple too. The spirit of God resides in her. We will fight for our Lucy. The very same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead flows through her veins. Right now those vessels are being invaded with chemo and drugs, they are fellow combatants along side us in this war.
Will you join us too? Be on our #ilovelucy team!
Please pray for her healing. Pray for her mommy and daddy who are broken. Pray for her brothers and sisters who are terrified. The grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who also need comfort and strength.
And please pray for the Jewish people today that they would find their Messiah as they lament.

Lament is a powerful thing because it pulls us to our knees as we cry out to God for His help. God allows these difficulties to help us rely more on him for what he alone can do. It calls us to faith. Hebrews 11:1 tells us
"Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." Praying in faith for your sweet Lucy and the Jewish people today. 🙏
I’m praying with you Carrie! Hugs. ❤️
