Alleys and side streets were quiet this morning. Much of the city emptied last evening. Israel’s central hills with its lush countryside and the wave tossing coasts to the west had received the exodus. The pace of people remaining was slow. Mark and I walked, weaving in and out of Jerusalem’s back streets. It was good to reflect and to listen.
